Station Cost Audit Studio

A six-week cohort that teaches you to run a financial auditing app for enterprise assembly line costing — from station maps to a controller-ready finding pack.

Modules

What you work through.

  • Week 1 — Station cartography. Build a living map of labour, fixtures, and dwell points before opening the app.
  • Week 2 — Event capture. Log micro-stops, changeovers, and scrap events with consistent taxonomy.
  • Week 3 — Standard vs actual. Reconcile ERP standards against observed minutes without forcing a false match.
  • Week 4 — Overhead threads. Trace shared costs onto cell groups using the Overhead Absorption Walkthrough patterns.
  • Week 5 — Finding narrative. Draft findings plant leads will recognise as their own floor.
  • Week 6 — Live audit walk. Present a pack using your data or our multi-station practice cell.

Outcomes

  • Produce a station-level audit trail that survives a controller review.
  • Configure the auditing app’s event types for your line vocabulary.
  • Separate scrap-causing stations from scrap-fixing stations in the ledger.
  • Explain one material variance in plain language to a non-finance audience.

FAQ

Do I need the auditing app installed before week 1?

We provide sandbox access on day one. If your company already licenses the app, we can map your fields in week 2 — but we cannot guarantee every custom ERP field will appear in the sandbox.

Is this suitable for supervisors without accounting backgrounds?

Yes, if they already own station performance conversations. We explain cost vocabulary gently; we do not teach full financial statement analysis.

What is a real limitation of this course?

We do not remake your ERP master data. Learners leave with audit method and app fluency; permanent cost-centre redesign still needs your systems team.

How large are cohorts?

Twelve learners maximum so each station map receives instructor comments.

Learner notes

Module 5’s finding narrative drill was the piece our plant manager actually read. Shorter than our old variance memos, and clearer.

I still needed help from IT to push events into our warehouse tables. The Studio is honest about that boundary — which I appreciated more than a glossy promise.
